Polychronis Griveas (Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELTA): "Greek stamps will remind, throughout 2021, the 200th anniversary"

In his statement, Mr. Griveas thanked the President of the Committee for the collaboration and referred to the history of ELTA, which runs parallel to that of the Greek state: "The Hellenic Post were founded on September 24, 1828, by Ioannis Kapodistrias. Thus, we always feel particularly related to the great struggles of the time, which resulted in the nation and the country inherited by the following generations. Now, we feel the same connection with the goals carried out by the Committee "Greece 2021."

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELTA announced that the Commemorative Stamp Series "Greece 2021" will be released on January 28, 2021, and will be accompanied by several philatelic products. Also, he revealed that "the Greek stamps will remind, throughout 2021, the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. In next year's issuing programme we have already approved three more Series of Stamps, inspired by history and also by the work of the Committee "Greece 2021." In fact, one of these series will be dedicated to the Revolution of 1821 as seen through the eyes of children.”

Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki: Through our collaboration, the messages and the symbolism of the anniversary will travel around the world

Through this collaboration, "Hellenic Post, as the leader of the Greek postal market, will convey throughout Greece and the world the messages and the symbolism of the 200th anniversary of the Revolution", said the President of the Committee "Greece 2021".

She described as "ideal" the decision for the first series of commemorative stamps to bear the logo of the celebration, as this will "state in every way that 2021 is the year of the Greeks, the year of Greece." This collaboration is special for yet another reason", said Mrs. Angelopoulos and added: "The history of the Hellenic Post is interconnected with the history of the modern Greek State. Hellenic Post were founded by the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, just seven years after the Revolution. And in these 192 years that followed, they were a means of communication that brought together the citizens of this country, wherever they lived, and facilitated economic activity and development."

Finally, the President of the Committee thanked the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELTA and his colleagues for their hard work into making this initiative real.
"We are very pleased to have the Hellenic Post on our side as a partner and a supporter in the anniversary occasion," she concluded.
