Andreas Empeirikos and the surrealistic scandal

Andreas Empeirikos (1901-1975) is the great "erotic" poet of Greek Poetry. With his "Ypsikaminos" (Blast Furnace) and his lecture on surrealism in 1935, he introduced the movement to the literary scene.  The analytical Empeirikos does not deal with utopia in its political manifestation alone. With his poetic illusory "Oktana" he described a world of freedom, of spiritual union and sexual liberation. He used psychoanalysis to encode love in its many forms and create a dialectic of desire.
