"Greece 2021" Committee President's speech at the 6th Delphi Economic Forum

The event of this year's Delphi Forum holds a distinct symbolism because it is dedicated to the milestone anniversary of 200 years after the Revolution of 1821 and commemorates and highlights the celebration of the bicentennial of modern Greece," said the President of the "Greece 2021" Committee Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, in her speech at the 6th Economic Forum of Delphi which was held under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

The President of the Committee stated that one of the key issues raised by this anniversary concerns connecting the past with the present and the future and, in particular, "how our shared past, our common course across these two centuries, can be a source of learning but also of inspiration, and bring a breath of fresh air into the collective project of creating a common future."

"An ambitious program of projects and events has been created with the decisive contribution of hundreds of institutions, associations, municipalities, active citizens. Within this framework and since the beginning of the year, anniversary initiatives that honor the history of the 200 years and highlight important aspects of the past have been implemented, alongside projects that aspire to open a window into the future, to trigger a dialogue on the next day, to leave a legacy for future generations" stressed the President of the Committee, underlining the fact that these events will continue to the end of the year, both in Greece and abroad.

Concluding her speech, the Committee President extended her wishes for a productive outcome to the Forum and good luck to all the participants and added: "We are confident that, as in previous years, this year's fruitful discussions will draw significant and useful conclusions. Greece is bravely entering the third century of its modern history."
